Morocco Pics, Part II

Here's the second batch, which covers all of our northern Morocco excursions from Fez:

1.  The blue city of Chefchaouen, where at least the bottom floor of all buildings in the mountain village must be painted blue or white in accordance with a religious city ordinance.

2.  Meknes, a former royal city near Fez; here, we toured the royal granaries, which were built large enough to withstand a ten year siege.

3.  The Roman ruins of Volubilis, an outpost city at the edge of the Roman empire.  The ruins are in wonderful condition, having been left largely unmolested for centuries.  The mosaics are particularly beautiful, especially a large mosaic detailing the 12 labors of Hercules.

I hope you enjoy!
